
Robert Sklar
Robert Sklar was a historian and author specializing in the history of cinema. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and then taught History at the University of Michigan. Later he became a professor of Cinema Studies at New York University for over thirty years. He also served on the selection committee of the New York Film Festival and was a member of the National Film Preservation Board.
Among Sklar’s other works are Movie-Made America: A Cultural History of American Movies (Random House) and Prime-Time America: Life On and Behind the Television Screen (Oxford).
