Anthony M. Rud

Anthony Melville Rud (1893–1942) was an American writer and pulp magazine editor. As with most pulp writers of his time, he wrote in numerous genres, including science fiction, horror, western, and detective. His novelette “Ooze” has the distinction of having appeared in the inaugural issue of Weird Tales magazine.

In addition to The Last Grubstake, Rud wrote several other novels, among them House of the Damned, The Stuffed Men, and Black Creek Buckaroo (his final work published the year before his death), as well as many short stories.
